An exciting opportunity to Join a specialised division of a Global Oil & Gas Services industry as an Assistant Accountant based in Plymouth.

As an Assistant Accountant for the division, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of certain financial information.
You will be working to tight deadlines and will maintain appropriate financial controls in line with Company, SOX, and UK GAAP requirements.
You will work as part of a team supporting the ledger.
This will include responsibility for the accurate and timely reporting of financials information for the ledger and reporting on the SOX controls on a quarterly basis. You will also be expected to actively support the Ledger Accountant in the team with their reporting responsibilities including SOX controls.
You should be a detail-oriented person and keen to take on fresh challenges. This role will provide many opportunities to develop your technical and interpersonal skills as well as expand your knowledge the parent company’s systems and policies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare accurate and timely financial information for the ledger, including intercompany, fixed assets and banking
Prepare accurate and timely SOX reporting for the ledger
Support the Ledger Accountant, this will include, amongst other activities, cash flow forecasts, balance sheet reconciliations, aging analysis, SOX reporting and variance analysis
Ensure the ledger is in compliance with all accounting regulations, company policies and reporting requirements.
Liaise with internal and external audit teams to support audit requirements
Prepare monthly HRMC and VAT reconciliations for review and submission
Actively look to automate and streamline processes within the roles area of responsibility
Perform any other job duties as assigned appropriately by Ledger Controller
Comply with and promote all company and HSE policies and procedures.

Degree-qualified with Accounting or Finance related degree
Previous experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing environment
Previous experience working with non-finance people
Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
ERP Systems knowledge
