Job Description

New permanent career opportunity for a Civils Quantity Surveyor / Estimator based in Central Fife.

Our client is established Civil Engineering Contractor who pride themselves on their values and their ‘family feel’. They generally win projects up to the value of £2M across a wide spectrum of Civil works.
Traditionally working on projects which include – drainage and road maintenance, muck shifts, structural works, ground works for housebuilding clients, alongside smaller sel-delivered civils works.
They have an established client base to whom they consistently deliver a quality product.
We feel this would suit either a younger Surveyor who can grow into the role within an established company, or an experienced surrveyor who has done the commute and would like to work near home.

The key purpose of the Quantity Surveyor / Estimator is to assist with all aspects of controlling and reporting on company expenditure from Pricing and Procurement to Final Account. The vacancy has arisen following the retirement of a long term employee.

Responsibilities:

• Estimate material costs, time and subsequent labour costs
• Prep, negotiate and analyse costs for both tenders and contracts
• Advise on a standard range of legal and contractual issues
• Value the completed works, while arranging payments

About your new role as a Civils Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
You’ll join a small commercial department, responsible for monitoring and controlling expenditure on all of their projects by controlling the ‘cost of sales’, as well as ensuring that all Commercial policies and procedures are adhered to.

As a Civils Quantity Surveyor / Estimator you’ll be responsible for assisting in Procurement in line with Programme, preparation of Budgets, Payments, Cost Value Reconciliations and the administration of Health and Safety procedures.

About you:

– HNC qualified or higher in a construction related course
– Experience working in a similar position on Civil orientated projects
– CSCS card or wiling to apply
– You’ll have strong analytical skills, self-motivated & organised
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
