Job Description

Our Global Client provides support and solutions to the Oil & Gas industry for both Subsea and Surface equipment in all environments including deep-water and marginal fields.
Their services include, Xmas tree refurbishment, isolation valves, enhanced testing, site integration test’s (SIT’s), actuation test and recertification, subsea engineering design & consultancy, transmissions, hydraulics all under one roof within their purpose-built facility in North East.

Job Title: Engineering Manager
Reporting to: Managing Director
Responsibility for the following personnel: Engineering and Drawing Office Teams.

Position Description:
The Engineering Manager will have direct responsibility for the running of the Engineering
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating all Engineering related work within the department.
You will provide technical support to the Engineering team, Internal Sales and Production teams and to other divisions within the Group.

Main Roles & Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager:
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards and work instructions.
The day to day running of the Engineering department and associated work scopes.
Allocation and co-ordination of all work being processed through the department.
Attend production/client specific meetings as and when required.
Complete and verify calculations in accordance with recognised design codes and practices.
Component design using 3D modelling and Finite Element Analysis software.
Compile and check Engineering reports and procedures.
Complete design reviews and technical files in accordance with the PED Directive.
Give general advice and apply a good working knowledge of material selection and testing (metals and soft goods).
Provide cover for the Welding Co-ordinator.

Health, Safety & Quality:
Fulfil role of Engineering and Training Representative for the department.
Responsible for overseeing housekeeping within the Engineering department and surrounding areas.
Reporting and investigating incidents and near misses.
Be aware of customer driven safety and environmental initiatives.

Training & People:
Co-ordinate the training and development of all Graduate/Trainee Engineers to the highest possible level.
Maintain Engineering TL competency at a suitable level to provide cover for the Engineering TL.
Ensure own and all team members VITAL profiles are complete and up to date.
Co-ordinate the internal and external training requirements of all Engineering team members.
Conduct annual appraisals of all Engineering team members.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
MEng or BEng in Mechanical Engineering (or similar related technical discipline).
Be a member of a recognised Engineering Institute (IMechE or other).
You will have or be working towards CEng/IEng registration with the Engineering Council through a recognised Engineering Institute.

The Engineering Manager shall have a comprehensive understanding of stress analysis and fluid dynamics and ideally have a working knowledge of CAD, 3D modelling, Finite Element Analysis and MathCAD software.
Extensive practical experience in product development/design of pressure retaining oil related equipment shall be required.
