Job Description

Our client based in Edinburgh are looking for an experienced Wood Machinist to join their established Joinery fit out Company. The position is full time either on a temporary to permanent, or direct permanent basis.

The company are a leaders in their field, producing for example bespoke doors, skirtings, architraves, fixtures and fittings for high-end refurbishment projects across the city. The finished products will replicate or compliment the existing fixtures and fittings and the wood colour matched, so that when fitted look authentic.

You will be joining a tight group of craftsmen, working for a well known and successful company who are responsible for many high-profile projects. The company are looking for what could be descibed as a ‘Traditional Wood Machinist’, using wood to construct single items and not mass produced, repetative everyday products. The work is therefore challenging but enjoyable.

As a Machinist you will already have the following skills and experience:

A proven background, with a wide experience in Wood Machining.
Experience building / producing bespoke wood products in line with your trade.
A proactive solution provider, able to contribute in a flexible team environment
Experience of working within a low volume batch environment.
Ability to read and understand technical joinery details and drawings.
Proactive nature and keen to work within a skilled small team, taking responsibility for your role.
Experience in the use of some workshop machines –

* Spindle Molders.
* Fore Cutters.
* Planers.
* Rip saw.
* Cross cut saw.

Some site experience and the ability to travel are also an advantage.

This is a permanent machinist position offering excellent working conditions and remuneration.

The working hours are 8am – 4.30pm (3.30pm on a Friday) with overtime readily available through busy times.
