Job Description

As QC inspector you will play a key role in checking components against relevant documented specifications whilst providing a balance between cost-effectiveness and quality control. You will ensure correct technique and inspection equipment is applied based on feature and tolerance requirements and acceptance criteria is applied within product specification guidelines. Ensuring that products are processed in a timely and an accurate manner providing accurate and timely reports according to the production schedule, will require collaboration with the inspection team encouraging positive open discussions on component deficiencies, safety and quality specifications making recommendations to improve processes, methods and safety. You will be responsible and accountable for the quantity and quality of your output, this ensuring that the departmental and personal KPI’s are met. Active use of the NCR system and register and library for the effective, efficient processing of nonconforming items is a necessity, which ensures standardisation and optimisation of decision making and record keeping. Your qualifications and/or experience will act as a strong foundation in the examination of product on site. You will be expected to be an individual decision maker, using available data to determine the most appropriate and cost effective decision on nonconforming product, with minimal support.


o Ensure all company policies surrounding material handling, health & safety, quality requirements and housekeeping are met
o Interpret or evaluate inspection measurements in accordance with applicable specifications, or procedures.
o Determine most effective (Cost, risk and benefit) methodology for inspection of parts and recommend changes to prescribed processes where required.
o Interpret the results of all methods of inspection
o Make recommendations for acceptance or otherwise of parts based on inspection results
o Review nonconforming product and determine and take the most appropriate action utilising all available data sources, experience and knowledge.
o Select, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the QC inspection of products or materials
o Conduct pre-operation daily and other checks on equipment where required.
o Examine castings, forgings and machined product using mechanical inspection techniques.
o Prepare inspection reports
o Raise and process NCR’s as required and determine and take the most appropriate action, using all available relevant data sources.
o Liaise with engineering, suppliers, QC team and QA manager on NCR’s as required.
o Liaise with QC/ISE Operations/ISE Aftermarket function cell leader of area assigned as appropriate for daily workload requirements.
o Support wider inspection function, by carrying out inspection duties when business requirements dictate.
o Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager
o Assist the continued development of the inspection process, methodology and equipment.
o Travel when required as dictated by business need
o Perform any other duties as may be required in order to support the business.
Essential Desirable
Qualifications: · Educated to a good standard of high school education or equivalent · Time served CNC machinist or equivalent

Experience: · Working knowledge within a similar position
· Risk and COSHH Assessment documentation
Skills, training or special knowledge · Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Outlook)
· Quality Management System awareness
· Ability to use, read internal, external, bore and stick micrometers, vernier callipers, height gauge, plug and ring gauges
· Examination of welds, forgings (and other wrought materials) and castings
· Working knowledge of dimensional inspection experience
· Valid Crane ticket
· Ability to use Gagemaker Mic-Trak system
· Forklift B1 license
· NDT SNT Level II (MPI and LPI)
· Working knowledge of Risk and COSHH Assessment documentation

The Role
This position comes with a basic salary of £33k based on a 37.5 hour week. There is also the opportunity to earn overtime at X1.5 and X2.0
